Strategic Planning

The dynamic, ever-changing character of a timberland investment requires strategic planning management tools capable of tracking and forecasting the myriad of biological and financial elements that characterize a timberland property.

Our information specialists have developed and implemented technology-based forest management tools that assist our property managers in maximizing revenues and minimizing costs.

A Customized Approach to Forest-level Management

Molpus biometricians have developed custom-made forest inventory processing systems, which, when linked to customized growth and yield modules, give our forest managers access to reliable individual timber stand inventory estimates applicable to present and future models.

This inventory data, coupled with an in-house developed yield table generator to feed into Remsoft’s Woodstock harvest scheduling system, allows forest-level management planning on our clients’ properties to help maximize their potential.

Information Systems

Molpus utilizes an enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) to help manage our client investments. ArcGIS and Microsoft SQL Server are the core components, providing both spatial and tabular aspects.

Molpus foresters use the GIS to help assist with:

  • Planning future harvests
  • Timber sale valuation
  • Certification
  • Site preparation
  • Reforestation
  • Land sale potential
  • Value add opportunities
  • Property appraisals
  • Financial audits

Timberlands Information Management System (TIMMS)

The GIS database, known internally as TIMMS, leverages the leading technologies in web, desktop, and mobile applications and helps support our real estate, accounting, legal, inventory, and certification functions within the company. This system also provides the tools for in-depth analysis, document retrieval, reporting, and better management decisions.
